adammesser I really enjoyed the vibe on both tracks. Looking forward to hearing the next ones. Favorite track: Brutal Rococo (feat. Bailey Mae Walker).

You stand there in your “Brutal Rococo” You’ll just mix anything Won’t settle for less, she won’t take so-so Only the best for a queen She’s propagating and planting her roots She knows there’s work to be done She’s got her wits, and can’t nobody stop her Don’t take shit from no one Baby, you’ve gotta hold on Baby, you’ve gotta hold on me Maybe, you got me sold on The way you’re moving, ‘cause I like what I see Lay it out for me, gonna make you see It don’t matter ‘cause we’re all alone now Check that bourgeois at the door, baby It don’t matter when we’re all alone now Baby, you’ve gotta hold on Baby, you’ve gotta hold on me Maybe, you got me sold on The way you’re moving, ‘cause I like what I see

Medium 03:34
Not enough time in a day Try to squirrel it all away I’ll spend it all on you, just as soon as I can make it I know it’s hard sometimes to say Just try to take it day by day It’s a dirty habit, but I know we can break it It helps to break the tedium It’s something tangible and real And before you know it, you’re caught in the motions Just like your favorite medium Somehow knows exactly how you feel The way you look right through me and spark an emotion

about

First release from the Subway Singles series, featuring two tracks by Ian McCarthy: a funky, dance-inspired side A, followed by a dreamy and soulful side B.

Ian is a 30-something self-taught multi-instrumentalist with a sharp ear, long resume and a penchant for over-hyphenating. Over the years he’s released a number of singles, played in a number of bands, spent a number of hours as a radio host, and sold quite a number of records. Based out of Atlanta, Georgia, his musical influences are varied, obscure, and above all else, bad.

"'You’ll just mix anything,' was a snide remark made by an eccentric former boss (no, not that one), whom I worked for as a house-cleaner in her literal mansion. In a way, [Brutal Rococo] is about not needing to be fancy (while definitely needing to be dancy)."

"Work can be a slog when you’d rather be home, and talking about your feelings can be hard sometimes, y’know? Try not to let it stand in the way of making a connection with people, and you might just have a better, groovier time. In a way, [Medium] is about love (and art)."
